Health Policy

The incidence and severity of the illness can be greatly reduced if we work cooperatively to prevent the rapid spread of communicable infections among the children at our center.

A health assessment will be made of each child upon arrival at the center.

If a child shows any signs of illness or infection, the child will not be accepted into the center.

Any health concerns will be directly discussed with the parent. If a child shows signs of illness or infection while at the center, the parent will be contacted, and the child will be removed from the play areas until she/he is picked up.

Kid is safe during Covid19

Parents will be asked to pick up their child within two hours or to designate another adult to pick up the child. Children must be free of symptoms for 24 hours before returning to the center. This is for the protection of the recovering child whose resistance is low and is just getting well.

Parents are required to notify the center if they or their children contract a communicable disease such as chickenpox, giardiasis, shigellosis, hepatitis, meningitis, measles, etc.

Parents will be notified if their child is exposed to a communicable disease while at the center. All children must be immunized in order to attend the center.

Parents are required to provide updated immunization as the child comes of age.

GULU GULU’S HEALTH POLICIES FOR DIARRHEA AND COLDS DIARRHEA (frequent watery, loose, or mucousy bowel movements) All cases of diarrhea must be reported to the center and the cause explained. Diarrhea has more serious consequences than catching a cold. Severe dehydration can lead to hospitalization. The risks of spreading serious intestinal illness associated with diarrhea are more serious than the risk of spreading colds. The child can come to the center if: diarrhea is caused by diet changes, or from an allergy, or one loose b.m. occurs before coming to the center without other physical symptoms. Criteria for child staying home: Diarrhea with additional signs of a child being sick (fever, runny nose, vomiting, irritability, lack of appetite), or diarrhea not due to diet change or allergy, even without other physical symptoms.

COLDS AND RUNNY NOSE Child can come to the center: if a clear runny nose with no other symptoms, or a clear runny nose caused by teething, allergy, or yellow or green runny nose by itself for up to a week. Criteria for child staying home: Runny nose with fever, lack of appetite, lethargy, irritability, or runny nose which is yellow or green for more than a week, or runny nose plus other signs of illness, or a very runny nose, which the child is unable to manage to wipe. Any symptoms that persist for two or more weeks usually require medical attention.
