Phonics

Our Phonics class will enable your children to build the foundation required to become fluent readers and accurate spellers. Different combinations, including blends, digraphs, and letter sounds, will be taught, read, heard, and spelled throughout the course. The pronunciation aspect will be heavily emphasized to ensure your child pronounces words with the clarity of a natural English speaker. Towards the end of our program, your child’s reading and spelling ability will be noticeably more advanced.

Reading

Through stories and literature, as well as more complex texts that provide facts and background knowledge in certain areas, students will develop their interests and enjoyment of reading. We make sure students understand the content and are able to rephrase and comprehend.

Writing

Our students learn to develop arguments to support claims with clear reasons and evidence. We utilize informative/explanatory text to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of contents. We examine narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective techniques, descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences. Students also learn about the production and distribution of writing, and how to research to build and present knowledge.

Grammar

Students will learn how to put words together in a sensible order and add the right endings, knowing how to produce combinations of sounds and letters that others can understand.
